Maintenance and enhancement
of quality in the institutions of higher education has been in the focus all over
the country in recent years.
Responding to the suggestion
made by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the Government of
Andhra Pradesh established a ‘STATE LEVEL QUALITY ASSURANCE COORDINATION COMMITTEE’
(SLQACC) at the State level with Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education as its Chairperson
and Principal Secretary to Govt. Department of Higher Education as its Vice Chairperson.
The SLQACC has eight members drawn from
various sectors related to higher education. The Director/Commissioner of Collegiate
Education is its Member-Convener. The following table shows the composition of the
SLQACC.

The functions of the SLQACC
are to review the progress towards quality assurance in institutions of Higher Education
in the State and through NAAC assessment and other appropriate measures and to guide
the functioning of the Quality Assurance Cell.
QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (QAC)
The Government of Andhra Pradesh
established Quality Assurance Cell (QAC) the functional unit of the SLQACC in the
Commissioner ate of Collegiate Education, AP, Hyderabad
with the Director/Commissioner of Collegiate Education as its Chairperson. The Director/Commissioner
was authorized to nominate the other members of the QAC. Smt.K.Sunitha, IAS, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, the Chairman of
the QAC nominated the members for the QAC. The composition of the QAC is as given
in the table below.

Main Functions of the QAC
1. To plan and organize all activities and programmes that help expediting the NAAC accreditation of institutions of higher education in the State. 2. To plan and organize post accreditation activities in the institutions. 3. To plan and organize any other initiatives that are aimed at enhancing quality in the institutions. 4. To plan and organize activities/programmes in association with and at the request of NAAC/ QACs of the other states. 5. To carry out the directions given by the SLQACC from time to time.
