Jawahar Knowledge Center, Centers(JKCs) initiated in 2005 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh ,
has evolved into a dynamic and student friendly platform to accommodate the job aspirations of
students in degree colleges. JKC has successfully risen to this challenge of training students in
skills relevant to the needs of the job industry and is continuously helping them adapt to the
competitive global business environment. 276 JKCs were established in degree colleges across
the state and students are trained in communication skills soft skills and analytical skills and
computer skills. Students belonging to commerce stream have the opportunity of undergoing training
in Financial Accounting Package. The students trained in JKCs are shown placement opportunities in
noted and well reputed companies / MNCs.
The Department of Collegiate Education has established 75 JKC Language Labs (JKC LL) in certain Govt.
Colleges in the State during 2007-08 to help our students to attain training in communication and
soft-skills. Each JKC LL has to be equipped with the following IT Hardware and Software Products.
I) Computer (Server)-1 Nos.II) Client Computers-30 Nos III) Microsoft Operating System, MS Office,
MS Windows 2003 Server with 30 CALS, LCD, UPS and other network components etc.
All these three Microsoft products (Windows 2003 Server with 30 CALs + Windows XP in all 30
Clients + MS Office in all 31 Systems) are mandatory to run the JKC LL in every college.
The M/S Microsoft Ltd is supplying their software products for the Educational Institutions
with high concession pricing under the Academic Edition Concept with a huge concession in costing
under Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA).
The Colleges chosen for establishment of JKC LL & JKC have many Computer systems at present and
all those computers have been updated and upgraded with Microsoft licensed products with this same
MSCA and this will be a great benefit and as well as cost savings to the Colleges and in turn to
the CCE organization. Also with the same bundle of MSCA, the other most needy MS products namely
MS-Visual Studio. Net & MS-Sql Server database software with unlimited number of Client Access
licenses to all the colleges can be used for college purpose which was already a part of the
curriculum and also these software products can be for the purpose of special software trainings
in JKC & JKC LLs in the colleges. Also all the existing systems in the colleg can be apgraded
