Mentoring is one of the most important aspects of JKC training. The more efficient the mentor,
the greater are the achievements of JKC. A true and sincere mentor strives to develop and improve
skills and abilities in students. A Mentor has tremendous impact on students and plays several roles.
He is a teacher, a counselor, a guide and a facilitator.
At JKCs, 160 qualified and competent Mentors selected through a stringent selection process,
are engaged to train students in Analytical skills and Computer skills. Efficient English Mentors
comprising of Lecturers specially trained by experts from US State Dept. through the English Language
Fellow Program, have involved themselves in JKC training to impart Communication skills and Soft
skills. Infosys trained faculty encompassing capable Lecturers in Physics and Mathematics train
the students in Analytical skills. The training is student centered and interactive and involves
all students. The mentor reinforces essential learning content, concept and skills and students
have freedom to ask questions and clarify doubts. They are involved in activities that facilitate
better understanding of the content and are also given opportunities to generate examples of how
the learning can be applied in their lives.
The training by JKC Mentors is practical oriented and industry relevant and students gain confidence
and exposure to succeed when placed in noteworthy companies.
Every Mentor in JKC is reminded by JKC to remember these precepts while mentoring their mentees.
- A teacher cannot be all things to all people
- You are not a "bad person" if you are not always able to meet all the needs of all your students
- You are a powerful and compelling figure in the lives of your students
- In recalling their school years, students mostly remember their teachers, and not the courses they took
- You need to find a "critical friend" whom you can trust to serve as a sounding board
- At times students can be very cruel, difficult, and mean-spirited
- It is a mistake to personalize a student's unacceptable behavior
- Teachers love their students as their parents love them--but in a different way and for a different reason
- Few people will ever appreciate the amount of time and effort teachers give to their teaching
- By choosing to be a teacher, you have entered an emotionally dangerous profession
- You are both a role model and change agent
- You need to pay attention to both your physical and emotional well-being
- Teaching is not like inducing a chemical reaction, but more like creating a painting, or planting a garden, or writing a friendly letter.
- Teaching is a complicated business because students are such unexpected blends of character, personality, and background
- Most of the significant advances in civilization have been the result of the work of teachers
- Teaching is an act of faith in the promise of the future
- Teaching is a way of life
